ProteanDrive Pd18 is the First In-Wheel Motor to Achieve Homologation in China

Protean Electric, the automotive technology firm and world leader of in-wheel motor technology, announced today that ProteanDrive Pd18 has become the first in-wheel motor to pass all three stages of the GB/T18488 certification.

The motors were stringently tested at laboratories of the China Automotive Technology Research Center “CATARC” located in Tianjin, based on the China National Standard GB/T18488 specifications. Pd18 successfully passed all tests relating to Performance and Function, EMC and Reliability. On achieving certification, Jonathan Dixon, VP of Global Engineering commented “Introducing a new technology to any market in the automotive industry is challenging and after 10 years of tireless development activities, having ProteanDrive technology proven and certified by such a distinguished authority serves to independently demonstrate the quality of our product and provide even more confidence to our many partners and customers around the world.”

Protean is continuing to advance in-wheel motor technology to improve performance and provide eDrive solutions across a broad range of vehicles. Pd16 (designed to fit inside a 16” wheel rim) will be the next model to undergo GB/T certification in the near future.
